B. Psych, Associate MAPS
Nadia is a registered psychologist who works at the Illawong Clinic.
Nadia has a strong passion and commitment for helping young people, and has worked with adults, young people, and families for five years in both individual and group capacities. Nadia has worked closely with vulnerable and at-risk young people to address and overcome challenging circumstances, such as; family breakdown and violence, a history of trauma, academic-related stress and anxiety, behavioural concerns, avoidance of school, depressive symptoms and mood disorders, drug and alcohol issues, and issues relating to gender identity and sexuality.
She has experience working with young people and families from various cultural backgrounds, including working closely with non-English speaking families and those from refugee-backgrounds. Having a strong emphasis on working systemically, she works closely with schools and relevant support agencies to address problems which contribute to young people's presentations.
Nadia utilises evidence-based treatment, with a focus on cognitive-behavioural strategies, a strengths-based approach, and solution-focused strategies as relevant to the individual's presentation. She believes that given the chance to develop a safe and secure therapeutic relationship, children and adolescents have the incredible resourcefulness to develop solutions to their own problems, and mirror those strengths in their own relationships. In her work with young people, she aims to give them the tools to address challenges that they can utilise and apply into the future.
Nadia is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She completed her Bachelor of Psychology at the University of Western Sydney and completed registration through the 4+2 pathway with ongoing clinical supervision whilst working in various psychological contexts.
Nadia works part time at the Illawong office.
